LEADERSHIP
Dal 2005 ad oggi tramite i finanziamenti autonomamente recuperati il Prof. Ventura ha costituito un laboratorio, Laboratorio di Probiogenomica (www.probiogenomics.com) che si prefigge lo studio della biologia dei microrganismi probiotici con particolare attenzione nell’ambito dei bifidobatteri e il loro ruolo nell’ecosistema intestinale. Il laboratorio di Probiogenomica è costituito da 11 unità (1 RTD, 3 assegnisti, 2 dottorandi e 5 borsisti) e vede la presenza di numerosi tirocinanti (tesi triennali e magistrali). Tutti i collaboratori presenti nel Lab. di Probiogenomica sono retribuiti con finanziamenti reperiti dal Prof. Ventura in modo totalmente autonomo. Al momento dell’arrivo presso l’Ateneo di Parma del Prof. Ventura (Novembre 2005) non esisteva alcuna struttura dedicata alla ricerca nel settore della biologia dei microrganismi probiotici. Il laboratorio di Probiogenomica è attualmente dotato di attrezzature scientifiche all’avanguardia (ad es. sequenziatori di DNA di nuova generazione non presenti in nessun altro laboratorio dell’Ateneo) per un valore totale di 552 mila EURO, acquistati grazie a finanziamenti ottenuti in modo totalmente autonomo dal Prof. Ventura. Il laboratorio di Probiogenomica è inserito in un network scientifico internazionale che vede coinvolti i principali centri di ricerca internazionali nel settore della probiotica (National University of Cork, Ireland; North Carolina State University; IPLA-CSIC, Spain).
ALTRE ATTIVITA’ DI RICERCA
2011 Costituzione di uno spin off accademico “GenProbio” srl. La mission di GenProbio e’ incentrata sullo sviluppo e la commercializzazione di batteri probiotici di nuova generazione da destinarsi sia al settore farmaceutico che alimentare. La compagine sociale dello spin off GenProbio comprende oltre che il candidato come amministratore delegato, anche altri collaboratori del suo gruppo di ricerca, l’Ateneo di Parma, industriali con esperienze nel settore marketing che finanziario. GenProbio srl dall’anno di costituzione, ottobre 2011, ad oggi ha avuto un fatturato di circa 1 milione di EURO, che è stato interamente dedicato al sostegno dei costi della ricerca (pagamenti di assegni di ricerca, dottorati, borse di studio, acquisto di strumentazione scientifica all’avanguardia e di reagenti). GenProbio srl ha due dipendenti (un tecnico di laboratorio e un amministrativo).
